We wanted to modify our 120-year-old 3-story house so that we could age in place. We weren’t sure if it was feasible considering the restrictions imposed by late 19th-century architecture. Roy took a look at our wish list and came up with a wonderful, workable plan. He was great to deal with and very patient with our lack of experience in reading construction plans, explaining things in a way that made sense to us. We appreciate his professionalism and eye for detail and highly recommend him.

I was wanting to construct a detached garage on my property so I found a contractor that provided a partially prefabbed structure design. I felt this was the easiest option for me and would be done quickly. Unfortunately, they didn’t provide the additional plans that would get me to the finish line in the permit department. Roy came into the picture luckily, knew exactly what we needed and I was able to get everything completed rather quickly for a fair price. It was a seamless transaction and really helped relieve the stress of figuring everything out on my own. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Will definitely use his services in the future when needed.

Roy was very helpful with the design of our Pittsburgh home addition. My wife and I had basic/preliminary drawings from another architect that we liked, but didn't love. With R&R Drafting's expertise, the preliminary drawings turned into helpful conversations and ultimately a layout that felt intentional and made perfect sense. Not only did the layout make more sense, but Roy's changes saved us a ton of money because we no longer had to move the gas and water lines coming into the house. All in all is was a great experience and we are so happy with the layout, communication and expertise that Roy brought to the project. My wife and I engaged a contractor to add a sunroom off our kitchen. Due to the roof line of our kitchen being several feet lower than the rest of our rear roofline, we had plans prepared to have the sunroom come directly back from our kitchen. Unfortunately, what we wanted to do encroached on the rear setback requirements of our HOA and the HOA would not give us a variance. Our contractor had Roy Raber visit our site and we had him prepare alternate plans. He rotated our sunroom 90 degrees and created an entirely new roofline which enabled us to have the same size sunroom and meet the HOA setback rule. Aesthetically, the R & R Drafting design is much more pleasing and our sunroom blends into our existing home. R & R Drafting LLC took our HOA rejection and created a superior design for us. I’ve used Roy on multiple projects now, from designing my own custom home to custom homes I’ve built to sell, and I’ll definitely continue using him on future projects. He’s very easy to work with and actually cares about what you’re trying to accomplish with the plans. You can tell him what you want and he’ll do everything he can to make it work, but he also has the knowledge and experience to tell you when there’s a better way to do something and explain why. One of the biggest things for me is his turnaround time. He’s quick with plans, revisions, and getting back to you when something comes up in the field. As a builder, that makes a huge difference because the last thing you want is a project getting held up waiting on drawings or answers. His pricing is also very reasonable and competitive, especially for the amount of time and attention he puts into each project. Whether it’s been my personal custom home or one of my builds to sell, I’ve always felt like I’m getting great value for what he charges. He answers the phone, works through changes with you, and genuinely cares about getting the plans right without charging you an arm and a leg for every little thing. Overall, Roy is knowledgeable, reliable, fair on pricing, and just a great guy to work with. I trust his opinion and his work, and that says a lot considering I trusted him with the design of my own home. I’d recommend him to anyone looking to build a custom home or take on a new project!

I found Roy on the Internet by chance. After having tried a couple of Architects he was a blessing. We told Roy what we were looking for and the property that we were going to build on. We had a concept of what we wanted, but wasn’t sure how to put it into plans that could be used by a builder Going back-and-forth with Roy by emails and phone calls over the next couple of weeks we came up with the design that was perfect for what we were looking for. I submitted the drawings to our builders and with a couple of more suggestions from our Builder, we finalized our design. After the design and reviewing it with the Builder again, we actually had another change and again Roy was right there to accommodate us and straighten things out. It was a great pleasure to work with Roy. We are starting the build of our house in approximately two weeks and so looking forward to it.

I found Roy after a large architect company completely dropped the ball on getting our plans. Roy responded in much less time than he quoted. He is extremely easy to work with and the turnaround time has exceeded my expectations. This is the fourth home we have built so I have good comparisons. I highly recommend Roy.
